About FTM 2019 24.2.2 Update

This is an important update for all users of FTM 2019. It includes necessary changes to Family Tree Maker’s FamilySync technology to accommodate updates on Ancestry's side and ensure a smooth syncing experience. Developed with Ancestry engineers, this update also improves the speed and reliability of syncing, uploading, and downloading for FTM 2019 users who keep their Ancestry trees in sync. After installing the update, the sync status will change from orange to green.

Additionally, this update resolves a problem with signing in to Ancestry on macOS 10.14-10.15. You can now successfully sign in on those systems.

The 24.2.2 update also includes all of the features and fixes from previous updates.

This update is for all users of FTM 2019. It contains important updates for:

  • Syncing with Ancestry
  • Ancestry Login on macOS 10.14-10.15

Before upgrading, there are a few things to keep in mind.

  • Please ensure that FTM 2019 is installed before updating. The updater will search for any previous versions of FTM 2019 before initiating the update.
  • Before running the update, make sure to sync your trees. If you have been syncing successfully in FTM 2019, then sync again. However, if you are upgrading from FTM 2017 and have been waiting for green weather to sync, you can skip this step.
  • It's essential to compact your trees (Tools > Compact File) and create manual backups (File > Backup, ensuring that the Media and Restore Sync boxes are checked) if you haven't done so yet. If you need detailed instructions on how to back up your tree, please let us know.
